All early studies added new space to the back of the existing house, rendering the center dark and buried beyond other rooms and walkways. The solution involved splitting the Family Room function off to the north, the Kitchen and New Breakfast Room to the south, connected to the Dining function. The result was a wonderful courtyard, defined by the new structures. The new Family and Breakfast Rooms get sun from morning until evening.
